Which A level Combination is better for Finance

Hi, i am in year 12 and would like to do finance at uni. I am currently doing 4 a level but plan to drop (either english or psychology - not decided) I currently do maths business english and psychology. Which combo would be better for finance, doing english or psychology.

I want to go somewhere like bristol or bath.

Double check on the unis websites to see if theres any specific subjects they require.
Maths and business are the main ones that are related- which you are sticking with.
Out of the other 2- i cant imagine it mattering. In which case id stick with the one you enjoy most and think you will get the best grade in.

Hey @nick76,

As mentioned above, either English or Psychology would be okay in this scenario; it's unlikely Finance courses will have a specific preference. Choose the one you enjoy most - if you can't decide between the two, compare your mocks/previous scores in each subject and choose accordingly.

Both Bristol and Bath require an A/A* in Mathematics for their BSc Finance courses but don't specify any other A-Level subjects. As long as you keep Maths on and achieve strong grades in your other two A-Levels (As), Bristol and Bath are both possibilities.

Best of luck,
Eve (Kingston Rep).

Hi, thank you for your response, do you reckon it would matter for course like finance and economics rather than just finance. Or would it not make a difference?

Hi @nick76,

As both Psychology and English are unrelated essay-based subjects, they'll likely hold similar value when applying to a course like Finance and Economics. The only essay subject I imagine might have an edge over any others in this case would probably be A-Level Economics itself.

Ultimately, it shouldn't make a huge difference. Choose whichever one you enjoy the most and believe you can achieve the highest grade in. 😁

Best of luck,
