Change Application - Maintenance Loan Change Mistake

Hi

My tuition fee and maintenance loan have been approved, but I needed to increase both. I mistakenly set a lower amount for the maintenance loan, thinking that the amount would be added on top of what I was already approved for.

I have tried to amend it, but it did not allow me. I'm in panic. What can I do?

Hi zugzwang_,

You mentioned that you need to increase both the Tuition Fee Loan and Maintenance Loan. Can you confirm how much has been awarded? Are you on placement at all this year?

Thanks, Clare

Hi Claire.

Thank you for your reply. No. I'm not on placement. I'm in my final year.

Initially, I was approved for Maintenance Loan of £5000. But, I wanted to increase it to £7275 (to help me pay for rent, food. I only work 1 day per week).

I called Student Finance the next day, and the representitive told me that it is not an issue. I just need to fill out a form (with total Maintenance Loan amount specified) and upload it to the portal, which I did.

I checked my account today (26/11), and it seems they have approved the first request to increase in Tuition Fee Loan, and decrease Maintenance Loan to £2275.

Should I just wait for them to check the form I sent with the combined total, before I contact them again?

Yes, that's right - if you've ticked the box indicating you want the maximum Maintenance Loan then that's all you need to do.

At the moment we're processing these forms in 22 working days, so please continue to check your account and e-mails for any updates.

Thanks, Graeme
