University of Warwick drinking culture

Heya! I just wanted to ask any current/former students about what the drinking culture is like at Warwick? I’m a light drinker who isn’t too keen on clubbing but still wants to make friends , just wondered hoping there will be like-minded people at Warwick!
Thanks

Hi! I'm a current Warwick student - I don't drink and I don't like clubbing, and I've definitely managed to meet like-minded people 🙂 There's so many different ways to meet people (flatmates, your course, societies etc.) that you'll find people you get on with. Obviously it is a uni, there is a drinking/clubbing culture but it's definitely not the only way to get to know people and there are definitely people who don't enjoy those things, so don't worry too much about it! Hope that helps and I'm happy to answer any other questions 🙂

Hi!
I'm a current final year student and I can say it's definitely possible to make friends without going clubbing. Warwick isn’t really known as a big drinking or party uni, so it’s definitely not the dominant culture here. Of course, there are still clubs in and around the uni and some societies (especially sports ones) that do more drinking-heavy socials like circling, but it’s absolutely not a must to get involved.

There are loads of people who are light drinkers or don’t drink at all, and you can still 100% make friends through other ways such as speaking to your coursemates during lectures/seminars, spending time with your flatmates, or attending societies that run sober socials (games nights, brunches, coffee, day trips, painting etc). In practice I've seen more or less all societies do sober socials, so regardless of your interests you can definitely find something that suits you.

Hope that helps, let me know if you have any other questions!
Best wishes,
Jasmine (Student Ambassador)
