University of Bath drinking culture?

Heya! I just wanted to ask any current/former students about what the drinking culture is like at Bath? I’m a light drinker who isn’t too keen on clubbing but still wants to make friends , just wondered hoping there will be like-minded people at Bath but wanted to ask for people’s perspectives on this !
Thanks

I'm a 4th year at Bath and I wouldn't say Bath has a massive drinking culture! The nightlife in the city isn't as good as other unis, I definitely wouldn't say Bath is considered a party uni at all. I'm a light drinker and I met loads of people who felt the same way.

Hi there!

At Bath, there are a lot more pubs in comparison to clubs. However a night out is definitely much better with the people you go with!

I'm not much of a drinker myself and I've been able to connect with others through societies and sports who also host their own social nights. During freshers week, there are many opportunities to meet new people and get involved with the university life.

There is still a nightlife at Bath but not a big some of the bigger cities. However there is the option and some students do also venture to Bristol as well! I would say there is a good balance and mixture of all different types of people at Bath

All the best
University of Bath

Hi I’m hoping to go to Bath next year for engineering and I’m also feeling the same as you which makes me a bit worried. But I heard that people there are really friendly so hopefully it won’t be that big of an issue

I personally love Bath and think it's an epic place to go for a night out to socialise, especially in summer.

I should think there will be a significant portion of students at any University these days who aren't that big on drinking or huge nights out- they will be there to study.

In general most uni drinking.party culture is a distant shadow of what it was, far more inclusive to light/non drinkers (I was a student back around 98-2000, and then again in 2020s so I deffo saw the changes)

I think drinking culture per se has ended really. The cost of it is now extreme and the younger generations are now far more health conscious also.
