Applied Science Unit 7 Predicitions

Hi,
I was just wondering if anyone had predictions for what the unit 7 topic will be when they give the article to us in December. I definitely know it won't be food technology as it was last years topic. I have a feeling it will be nanotechnology. Any predictions?

No you definitely cannot use chat gpt or any other form of ai as when you make your notes in the computer the librarians monitor your search history as well as invigilators walking around checking your screen and if you get caught, you get disqualified! This happened to second years that were in my school last year. Please don’t do it as it is not worth it!!

If you need help with revision or just general content. Send me a message  It’s better to revise the content beforehand than using chat gpt!

I don't know what to write during the part A exam. Is there anything else besides the 4 impacts I should write? Also how should I write the 4 impacts?

My plan for my notes is to make a table so it's organised and easier to track key point, you can do that if you want. In you notes, you can also include a short summary of the articles so you can give yourself a refresher of the articles in part B. Make sure to your notes address each question you will be asked in the exam so you have a plan ready to use for the questions in part B.

When writing for the four impact: economic, social, environmental, ethical. Try to make as much points you can for those impacts and if your stuck you can use the internet for better points. Try to also think outside the box when making notes for this as this would impress the examiner.

Besides the four impacts, you should also include the credibility of the four articles and which person/organisation wrote them and if they are reliable or not, as well as if this person/organisation has been implicated in any controversies (this is what you would write for question 2 in part B). Checking if the articles are peer reviewed is also important and the publication date (this is what you would write for question 3 in part B)

In addition, for question 4 in part B you are going to be asked to suggest the potential areas for development and/ or research of the scientific issues from the three articles. You should include in your notes if there is potential gaps in research, if there are any limitations, or if there are emerging technologies or methods mentioned in the articles.

Keep in mind: do not write your notes as if you're answering the exam questions (like pre-written answers). Your notes should be bullet points and key facts only. Writing complete answers in your notes could be seen as malpractice and you risk disqualification

I hope this guidance helped you! and don't be afraid to ask more questions!

How do I infer points from the articles.. Ik it’s a dumb question but I always think that when I get the article I won’t be able to infer social economical enviro and ethical points .. do they be obvious..

Thats exactly what my teachers are saying as well. Why does everyone think its about nuclear fusion. Anyways my teacher also said we are allowed to ai as long as we don't copy it word for word and only use it for research e.g. 'Has X article been peer reviewed'.
