Best uni for general engineering & second year specialisation?

I’m looking for the best place to study ‘general’ engineering where I can specialise in second year. I really enjoy chemistry A-level and F1 so mechanical and chemical are the main ones I might want to specialise in in second year. I want a course that is hands-on, big on projects, and still leaves me with a respected engineering degree at the end. Where have people found the teaching and project work strong? Any advice on which unis might be best for me? Thanks!

Hello @milliepoole08

Kingston has lots of engineering degrees that you might be interested in! Undergraduate courses | Kingston University London

There is a whole campus dedicated to the engineering courses and students. With a range of great facilities. I would definitely recommend coming to an open day, if you can, to see it for yourself. This really helped me make my decision.

I believe a foundation year in engineering may be a good option for you. Foundation Year in Engineering | Kingston University London As I believe it will give you a good overview and then you can decide on a more specialised course. Definitely worth doing some research on and having a good look into.

I hope this helps and if you have any questions feel free to ask

All you can do is trawl through the online course descriptions etc yourself and work out what right for you - no-one else can do this for you as everyone else has different interests, needs, comforts etc. Bear in mind that most people on TSR have at best only been to one Uni, or more frequently not even one, so any 'this one' advice is hardly reliable.

My advice is to look for an MEng (extended degree) and one with a placement year or study abroad as this adds enormously to your graduate CV.
