Previous study calculation

im currently studying CIPS level 4 but am hoping to apply to do my first degree in 2026. would my cips level 4 qualification reduce my SFE tuition loan? ive seen that the typical calculation is duration of course+ 1 year - previous study. but the cips level 4 qualification doesnt have a set duration?

Hi Laura,

Yes, we take all previous study from level 4 onwards into consideration when determining your eligibility for funding. Thanks, Jason

hi jason, thanks for the response. cips level 4 is a 60 credit qualification with no set duration so how does that factor into the calculation. would that just be Duration of course+1- 1?
im planning to do a 4 year course where the 3rd year is a work placement. would i be eligible for full tuition loan cover? not sure how the placement year is factored in as well so any further advice or clarification is appreciated.

Hi there, for to assist you with your query please answer the following questions:

The university you want to apply to?
The exact course title?
Is this a Full Time or Part Time course?
How many years is the new course in total?
How many years of previous study have you used so far?
When are you planning to start your studies?

Thank you, Stephen.
