Any other PGR's at Anglia Ruskin Uni had a bad experience?

So, was accepted onto a phd at ARU based on a research proposal in my application. My supervisors were both excited and supportive of it. Once enrolled you must submit an official RP within 6 weeks to be examined and accepted. My supervisors proceeded to steer me completely away from my original field of research , expected me to basically learn a whole new field in just a few weeks, strongly advised a change in my research questions , then have decided not to sign off the proposal as its not strong enough. I've decided to intermit but honestly after receiving this news 25 days after submitting, I've decided to withdraw.
I'm not adverse to criticism but honestly it's like asking a printmaker to become a sculptor in 3 weeks. Really disappointed, I'm suspicious that I was taken on purely for the fees as I was self funded and I am clearly in the wrong faculty. Do not recommend this University.
