LJMU or Uni of Liverpool/Leeds?

Any reps/students or applicants have any advice?

I’m looking to study business management with opportunities to specialise in marketing with lots of chances for placements/practical work and good business links.

I’m torn between going for the unis with higher entry requirements or LJMU which Ik is great for business.

Also would like to know how practical the courses are at uni of Leeds and Liverpool as Ik they’re are research lead which im unsure about.

Thank you!

Hi @Rosebudsie

LJMU is a great place to study business, especially if you’re interested in marketing. Key marketing-related modules include:

Marketing (Year 1) introduction to marketing principles and understanding markets and consumers.

Digital Business Management (Year 2) how businesses use digital tools and strategies, including marketing applications.

Managing Data & Information (Year 2) using data to support business and marketing decisions.

Business Consultancy Project (Final Year, optional) work directly with a company advising on a business project as part of your assessment.

Full course details are available here: https://www.ljmu.ac.uk/study/courses/undergraduates/2026/36125-business-management-bsc-hons

Work experience is a strong focus. You can choose optional modules to tailor your degree, take a paid 48-week work placement in the UK or overseas between Years 2 and 3, or spend a semester or full year abroad. Placements give you the chance to apply your learning to real-life business problems, develop personal skills, enhance employability, and many students go on to secure employment with their placement provider. Roles have included companies such as Unilever, Liverpool FC, Liverpool John Lennon Airport, Bentley, Airbus, and Toyota to name a few.

Liverpool Business School is highly regarded for its real-world business engagement, winning Business School of the Year in both the Times Higher Education Awards and the Educate North Awards in 2025.

Any further questions, feel free to ask,
