Homeschooling for A level Biology??

Hi,
I am struggling loads and would really like to homeschool for A level biology but don't know if that is an option due to the endorsement test. I am in yr 12 and I am really not enjoying the a level expiernce. I was wondering if anyone is homeschooling for a level biology and if there is another way to do the endorsement test rather than doing it in my lessons that doesn't include paying money. Its is possible to homeschool for a level biology. If anyone could help I would really appreciate it as I don't know much.

I would also quickly like to mention that I have skipped most the biology lessons and done the work at home. I suffer from anxiety which is what makes it difficult to attend sixth form. However, I would really love to do very well in my exams so I have the motivation and if I miss lessons I do lots of work at home to make sure I stay on track.

Hey!

I didn't homeschool A level Biology but I completed it this year, I'm sorry to hear that you aren't enjoying the A level experience.

It is possible to "homeschool" yourself, but it would most likely cost you money. If you leave school to homeschool yourself- you will have to find an exam centre to do the exams at if your current school isn't willing for you to do it there. This will cost money. Furthermore, the practical endorsement is mandatory and if you aren't doing it at your school- you might also have to pay out to get this done else where at a private exam centre.

In short, unfortunately I don't think you'd be able to get the endorsement test for free if you are homeschooling yourself- unless your school is generous and agrees to let you do the exams and endorsement there for free despite technically not being a student anymore.

I hope this makes sense/helps. Please ask me any questions you like.

Hi, just wanted to let you know that it is not mandatory to complete the practical tests. You can achieve a biology A-Level even if you choose not to do the practicals. If you're thinking about studying at university, then it depends on what course you choose (some courses may look at practicals whilst others don't). For example, if you're thinking of applying to study medicine, then some universities in England require you to have passed the practical endorsement of A-Level Biology while other unis don't for medicine. It's best for you to email unis to check their specific requirements.
Plus, the practicals tend to cost the most - the actual written exams cost lower than the practical part. If you want to study Biology A-Level privately then you could try to look at the exam centres near you & check the prices.
Good Luck! & I hope the above info is useful.
