Transferring to Manchester Met

I’m currently a first year student at University of Law in Leeds. It’s been around 2 and a half months in and i’ve recognised some of the problems with ULaw. Despite having some strengths such as career focused training, the lack of transparency is a bit concerning.Additionally all of my modules will be carried out to online programmes next year and it makes me question the quality of the teaching and the degree. Also the lack of university feel at ULaw is shocking,it’s literally just an office with a few classes in each floor. Ive been thinking of transferring to Manchester Met for my second year with some friends however I am unsure about their transfer policy and whether I would be accepted.
I know for most classifications, the first year is not counted towards final grades but I am unsure as to what I would need.
Some advice would be appreciated!!

Hi @mehmetkaya2007

Thank you for sharing your concerns. It’s completely understandable to want clarity and a sense of community during your studies.

First, if you are enrolled on the LLB Law Leeds campus programme, your teaching will continue to be delivered face-to-face. The online delivery you mentioned may apply to other course formats, but not to your campus based LLB.

I’d also recommend speaking with your Student Journey Team. They can provide guidance on your options, and help you make an informed decision. Or you can reach out to your Academic Coach who will offer you guidance through your course as well as assistance and advice during your time studying with us.

To enhance your university experience, you might want to consider getting involved in more social activities through the Students’ Union. The SU have community WhatsApp groups too, find out more here! This can really help create that university feel and connect you with peers outside of class. Also, it’s worth checking out student events which can be found on the Student Hub and the My ULaw App.

I hope this helps,

Phone Man Met and ask them about transfers.

And yes, your identification of some of the problems with ULaw are valid - other potential applicants, please take note.

Hi @mehmetkaya2007

You would be very welcome to apply for Year 2 entry to our LLB (Hons) degree, but it is not guaranteed that you will receive an offer. We can consider applicants who wish to transfer from another university into Year 2 of most of our full-time degrees. Advanced entry applications are always considered individually by the Admissions Tutor as they will need to assess how closely your previous study at Leeds matches the degree here at Manchester Met to determine if you have the necessary subject knowledge and that your academic performance is sufficient to progress onto Year 2 of our LLB. We would advise you refer to the Year 1 modules of our LLB on the course webpage: LLB (Hons).

To be considered for a transfer into Year 2, you will need to complete a new UCAS application, selecting Year 2 as your point of entry once you have selected your programme choice on your application form. You are welcome to apply for September 2026 entry with your first year results pending. Should you receive an offer from us, your Year 1 results will be listed as an offer condition.

I hope this helps. If you have any questions please feel free to get in touch with our Course Enquiries team at [email protected] or on 0161 247 6969. You can also contact us via the Live Chat here (bottom right of the webpage).

Mel 😊

Heyyy I’m currently at ULaw in Manchester and I do agree it does not have a university feel so I am doing the same as you to mmu. Since it’s been 2 months since you posted this, has there been any updates?
