I am applying to do psychology at York, sheffield, durham, edinburgh and st andrews.
I’ve heard from york and sheffield - does anyone know when i will get the other 3/why not yet??

Also any tips on which one to choose out of thr 5 would be great.
Thanks!

Many universities like to take their sweet time to reply to their applicants, so don't worry about not having heard back from them yet, you will at some point. It's likely that they might be waiting after the UCAS January deadline. In any case it's not worth losing sleep over not hearing back yet.

And tips to choose... pick the one you like best. It really doesn't matter.

Hi Georgia,

It's great to hear that you've applied to study at York!

We don't usually give a timeframe on sending out offers, as this will depend on the department and course you have applied to, your qualifications and whether any more information is needed.

Please don’t worry if you haven’t heard yet, though! If your application was submitted by 6pm (UK time) on 14 January 2026, the universities you applied to will have to respond to your application by 13 May 2026 (according to key UCAS dates).

If you’re really concerned, and would like an update on the status of your application email [email protected].

If you've got any questions about the psychology course at York, just let me know and I'll try to find the answer for you 😀

I hope this helps!
Hannah

Hi georginasisum, 👋

It's great to hear you are applying for a psychology course. 😄

Psychology at Sheffield is a British Psychological Society (BPS) accredited course meaning you will be eligible for graduate membership the first step to becoming a chartered psychologist, and necessary for courses in clinical, health and occupational psychology. We are also in the top 20 for this course (The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2026.) And there is the option to do a short part-time placement or a placement year to get valuable experience and make your applications for future roles or courses stand out.

Sheffield is also great because it's such a friendly city with so many things to do, whether you love shopping, going out for food and drinks, catching a film at the cinema, exploring museums and cultural sites, or going for a stroll in a nice green space. The Peak District is also only a short bus ride away, my favourite spots are Ladybower reservoir, and popping to the town of Bakewell for a coffee and cake. 🌳🍰

If you have any questions about living and/or studying in Sheffield, do let me know and I'd be more than happy to help!

Best of luck with your other applications.

All best,
Phoebe 😀
