My Son Has Been Put on Hold for Bristol

He's an A* student (3 A* predictions), I have been Googling but can't help feeling disappointed for him - what does it really mean? He received other offers within 24 hours - this is 6 days after application....

Bristol does this - many applicants are on hold, for some programs all are placed on hold while they review all applicants. It means he passed the minimum requirements and will being considered, for an interview (if Medicine applicant) or for an offer (if non-Medicine applicant). My daughter has A*A*A*A predicted and is on hold for biomed. And so are her friends with 3A*.

Bristol do this as a matter of course for many applications. It doesn't really mean anything. See here:

NB. 24hrs is at the exceptionally quick end of the spectrum, they have months to make a decision.

Normal.
It just means they have read his application.
Nothing to worry about.

Hi
My son was put on hold last year for dentistry even with very high UCAT 2960b2 with 2A* A achieved grades.
Eventually, he was rejected without an interview. They tend to go for very high UCAT, the cutoff last year around 3100. It is crazy to apply there because it is a risky option. We were devastated with that decision and never saw it coming, especially with achieved grades and high UCAT. Luckily, my son got three interviews and two offers of a place . Good luck to you all.
