How to prepare for Medicine interview

I just got invited for a med interview at Edgehill and I’m really happy. I want to get this in the bag. How do I prepare?

Also Is the preparation different for all universities or the same?

i believe the questions they ask are very similar in MMIs between universities for medicine as they're scenarios. i've also applied for edgehill med school, however haven't been invited for an interview yet. do they have an applicant page where there are updates to your application? i haven't seen one for edgehill but all the other universities i applied to have one.

also you can do courses online to help prepare. and this might be a long shot but you can email with senior doctors in your local hospital as a lot of them help prepare candidates for MMI interviews, so i think its worth emailing some of them if they are able to help

Well done!!!
What I have been doing is making flashcards on the NHS hot topics (effects of COVID, brexit, vaccines, abortion etc… you can find these online) just to gain some background knowledge but not rote learning or anything.

For the other types of questions I have been making flashcards on the structure to follow for example I love acronyms so for the question what are your biggest strengths I use SEEL: Strength, example, effect and link to medicine. This ensures that I have an understanding of how to answer the question without sounding rehearsed.

For role play ones I practiced identifying what skills they are testing. This helps you structure your answer according to what the interviewer wants so if there is a question on let’s say communication, then I would use my SPIKES acronym of setting, perception, invitation, knowledge, empathy and summarise.

This is just what has worked for me but hoped this helps

Check out the official medicine interview thread for LOTs of detailed questions, examples and feedback.

SOME interview questions may be similar and so generic to any school but you MUST research the chose Uni website for details on their course, teaching methods/styles and curriculum specifics. Also research, placement and elective opportunities are all important to know about.

ANYTHING you have written in your personal statement MAY be asked about.

Hi Pippa,

I hope you can help me on this
Do you know if edge hill provides support to those with adhd during MMI interviews?. I take time to process questions and not even just this I need a piece of paper during the reading time otherwise I'll forget what i've thought about before i even say it. Do they at least give you a paper after they read the scenario to you?

Any help would be appreciated
Thank youuu
