english lit or philosophy a level?

i’m currently in year 11 and have to choose a levels in a few months. i want to study law at uni so im conscious of having to pick essay subjects, but i know that law doesn’t require specific subjects so theres more freedom. my school makes us choose 4 and my three that i want to do are physics politics and economics. physics is just because its my favourite subject and i really want to continue doing it. i dont have a traditional essay subject so i was considering a level english, but i struggle with remembering quotes and don’t know if id be able to handle a level when i find i have to work quite hard to get high marks at gcse. i dont do anything like philosophy at gcse bc i picked badly but im quite interested in it especially the debate side, and i think in terms of interest i would prefer to do philosophy. but because i dont want to do a subject like history maybe i should do english just to be safe? someone help😭

I do English lit and RS (which is like 2/3rds just philosophy) and honestly PLEASE just pick what you are actually interested in. For a subject like law your combo doesn't really matter so its best that you pick subjects you like to minimise your sixth form suffering. English was my favourite subject at GCSE; I never got below an 8 and found it super easy. Now its my least favourite a level, not even because its that hard its just soooo demanding. I'm doing my coursework right now and its literally just like.... oh my god. My advice would probably be look at the specifications for the subjects your school does. A big part of my dislike for English is because I really don't like the texts we do so I really wish I'd looked at that before. When I looked at the specification for RS I was immediately like I'm doing this subject. I LOVE IT!!! Genuinely best subject ever.. philosophy is probably also better for doing law in terms of the skills required. I'm doing it at uni to then do a law conversion. So yeah... I think unis do like you to have a strong essay based subject like history or english but i don't think they'll reject you if you dont lol. Do what you enjoy basically
