MA SOAS or KCL

Hey there !
I have received offers from both SOAS London for the MA Politics and International Relations and the MA War Studies at King's College London. I know both are excellent programs in their fields, but that has me in a conflicted position. I find the global south focus at soas very appealing, as well as the cyber policy and governance element at kcl. Do you think one program is better than the other? If you are studying or have studied in either and can share your insight, it would help me decide and I'd appreciate it greatly!

As you said, the courses have different emphases. So it is like comparing apple with orange. SOAS's strengths and uniqueness are their non-Western/European perspective. While KCL is comparatively more conventional/Western/European. Maybe you could have a personal reflection of your standpoint.

Hi there,

That's amazing! Congratulations on your offers! If you are trying to make a decision, it may be worth coming onto campus during one of our open days to speak to professors. Unfortunately, bookings have filled up for our event next Thursday but we do have another Postgraduate Open Day in March if you are interested. Here is the link, if you would like to sign up.

Alternatively, if you are interested in having a chat with a professor from that department sooner than March, please send me your email address over DMs and I will try to arrange a conversation with an academic. They may be able to give you a better insight into what the masters course is about and whether it suits your academic interests and/or long-term goals.

Hope this helps. Please reach out if you are interested.
