English at Oxbridge

I’m in y12 and I think I’ve decided I want to do English at Oxbridge. I wasn’t sure at first which is why I chose bio, Chem and English lit as my a levels. Both unis say that the only subject they need is English lit, however a lot of the recommended are humanities subjects. Will they look down or discriminate against my application because of my other a levels as it may suggest i lean towards more STEM. What can I do to give me the best chance as possible of being successful?

They will not discriminate against you. If they had a strong preference for additional Humanities subject they would make that clear on the admissions guidance.

The best thing you can do is read as widely as possible - read well beyond the curriculum and read a wide range of genres and periods.

Youre definitely gonna get asked about it but I’ve never heard of them picking picking people specifically because of their other subjects that can help with English. It’s about your passion and love for English after all
