A Level Options Feedback!!!

hey guys, I’ve decided to take History, Econ, Maths and Chemistry for A levels. i was just wondering about your thoughts on this combo as i’ve already submitted to my school (but i have multiple opportunities to change it ahaha).

btw, i dont know what i want to become in the future but i have an idea of degrees. i’ll either take pure history, some combo of history and econ or pure chemistry as a first degree then possibly a law conversion. i wouldn’t do straight law to keep options open tbh. any advice welcome!

Those subjects sound good to me. You will keep your options open, and they will be good for the possible degree options that you have chosen.

Do you have to take four? Unis only ask for three and there is no advantage to more excpet if you are doing Maths/FMaths as two.

A solid combo for the degree options you are considering 🙂

In my college, most people find economics easy, for history, lots of writing.
I do maths and chem too, i find maths fun , but the grade boundaries are quite high so it's a lot of grinding to get an A*
Chem isnt too bad, easy to get an A but harder to get A* (again, grade boundaries are high)
so if your aim is all A*s, you need to start prepping from day 1 since you are taking 4 subjects

i'm taking four because i am keeping my options open between history and chemistry, and it's common to take four initially (and possibly drop) at my school.

Hello, I'm currently taking almost the same subjects, except I do Further Maths instead of Chemistry. I am in the same situation as you are and it is nice to keep options open. History for me wasn't a massive step up from GCSE, although there is more sophistication needed in your writing and there is more content. I will say that History at A Level is more political-based, with many policies, so there is a lot less of the social and cultural elements, but I really like it and it's interesting. Maths is a bigger step up for me, but with practice it is manageable. I find econ much easier than the rest of my other subjects, but probably because it's the least intense for me lol! As long as you revise consistently and listen to teachers, you'll be fine! Sorry for the long post btw

thank you so much! funny enough, FM is my other option if I end up not wanting to do chemistry anymore

You are really keeping your options open. If you enjoy those subjects go for them.

Update: i’ve decided i might replace econ with fm as I do really enjoy maths!
