Would it be ok to start MPhil Research program in summer instead of October?

Wondering if it's possible for an international student to start an MPhil Research program in summer (July or Aug) instead of October?
Does school or department allow an earlier start? Where would the student stay during July and Aug? Does school provide dorm for July and Aug?

I suspect it will state when the course is planned to start on the relevant admissions page. If in doubt contact the department in question.

Colleges usually rent out rooms over the summer for conferences and events so I suspect there's limited accommodation available in college at that time.

Thanks! The application page says the program starts in Oct, the same as most Cambridge postgraduate programs. I'd like to start earlier so that I can finish earlier and pursue med school in USA which normally starts in Aug.
