Help Full Time Uni Student Wanting To Transfer To Part Time OU

Hi

I am currently studying a full time degree at uni but I want to transfer from a full time degree to a part time degree with OU spanning over 6 years. I am a disabled student and I was wondering if my tuition fees will get paid every year and if the maintenance loan gets paid every year.

Thank you.

Hi there,

Have you received payments for the course you are currently on? When would you start the course at the Open University? Do you have a disability which prevents you from attending a brick university and that a distance learning course is your only option?

Thanks, Drew

Hi Drew

So I have been paid for the 1st semester. February 2026 is the course start date for the same course but through OU. And I have a diagnosis of anxiety & depression & currently being diagnosed with PTSD. Continuing my degree over a longer period while suffering with these conditions will help me greatly.

And also due to the anxiety & PTSD working from home would be the better solution.

Hi there,

Once you submit your application you can contact us to get a Medical Declaration form. You will need to complete part of the form and the other part will need to be completed by a GP. This can then be uploaded from your online account and if approved you can be eligible for a Maintenance Loan.

Thanks, Drew
