Household income query

Hi,

I am currently doing a 1 year PGCE course, which started this September. I separated from my partner at the end of June, at the same time I was completing my student finance application.

My student finance application was approved with my income alone.

Since going through the separation, my ex partner moved into his dad's flat. However, this wasn't officially changed on my housing tenancy, as it is in our housing agency's contract that students cannot be sole tenants. My ex agreed to keep paying the rent as we have two children together, and I wouldn't be able to afford to move during my PGCE degree.

I am now worried that student finance may at some point assume that my household income includes both mine and my ex-partners, as he is still on the tenancy.

Is this something they could question, and if so, would household bills in my name count as evidence?

Thank you

Hi LP1332,

That would be considered 'non standard' evidence and would be reviewed on a case by case basis. Usually if you are asked for marital evidence, you would be uploading any of that evidence with a Marital Status Declaration form explaining the situation. The assessors would review this then let you know if anything else needs to be confirmed and if it is acceptable or not.

Thanks, Clare
