If I already have my grades am I guaranteed an offer (Uni of Birmingham)

I'm about to send off my UCAS application for an Engineering Foundation year at the University of Birmingham. I'm currently in my first year of uni, and re-applying because I don't like my current course, so I already have my A-level grades. They meet all the requirements for the engineering course, so does anyone know if this will guarantee me a place there? I'm unsure of the competitiveness of the course and want to know so that I can drop out before second term, so that I don't have to repay my second term loans.
Edit: forgot to mention, I'm studying at a different university rn

Having the required grades does not automatically guarantee an offer. Admission also depends on course competitiveness, UCAS decisions, and your current university record. You should contact Birmingham’s admissions team for clarification.

Hello,

As above, meeting the grade requirements doesn’t guarantee you acceptance. But it’s good to apply early and write a strong personal statement that helps you stand out.

All the best

The way it works is your application will be sent to admissions and then forwarded to a tutor from within the area of interest who will check you grades meet the requirements and your statement shows a clear interest. If you were applying to 1st year entry they may have looked at the modules you studied at your previous university but since you are applying to a foundation year it is unlikely. There is no guarantee of anything, only that should you receive an offer it would be unconditional given that you would have already met the academic requirements. Sincerely - someone who used to work in uob admissions
