Do I need more reading for Oxford PPE?

I've read a few things in depth but haven't covered every topic out there. Should I focus on reading more widely for Oxford PPE interviews, or is being able to discuss a few areas in detail enough? 😊

Quality is more important than quantity - discussing a smaller number of topics you've explored in a good level of analytical detail is much better than just having a great big list of things you've read/done without any analysis or reflection!

Impossible to predict what questions might be asked at the interview. However, if you're truly interested in the subject then further reading should be something you would enjoy. Good luck.

Going deep on a few topics might beat trying to skim everything, though a bit of wider reading can’t hurt.

Which subject are you focusing on the most Economics? Politics? or Philosophy? Maybe reading the newspapers and The Economist might help?

Try to join your local library and you will have free access to every newspaper and magazine online on: "PRESSREADER APP." 🙂 It requires your library card number and library PIN which is issued at the time of membership card being created.

at the moment I'd say economics more so and politics after. less philosophy but I am open to it. thanks for the library thing BTW definitely will make sure to use that

Yes, I am amazed that it is all paid for by our taxes. 😛 lol Even "The Wall Street Journal," "New York Times," "Washington Post," and the obvious "The Economist" as well as every other leading magazine and newspaper are on: "PRESSREADER APP." 😉

So, get a free library card from your local library and download the "PRESSREADER APP" and make notes from the articles, especially The Economist.

PPE interviews ask general questions which no amount of reading will help you with. They want to see how you think on your feet, respond to the unexpected and build ideas. In other words, will the tutorial system suit you. I know someone whose interviews ranged from Dr Who, optimal tax systems, the Kardasians and car parks. They got in.
