Bournemouth University has excellent connections with local and regional health and social care services, including hospitals, care homes, and private sectors. This gives students experience across a diverse range of specialities and settings in the NHS and beyond! 🏥
🗺️ Where are placements typically located?
Our placements cover the Dorset, Somerset, Wiltshire, and Hampshire regions. Some common NHS Trusts include:

University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust

Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust

Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust

🩺 What specialities can you experience?
You will complete five mandatory placements covering a wide range of clinical specialties and healthcare settings. These include the core areas and many specialised fields.
Placements are very likely to include:

Musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions

Cardiovascular & Respiratory care (including ICU)

Neurological conditions and spinal units

Orthopaedics

Elderly Care

Paediatrics (child health)

Community settings and domiciliary care

Women's Health

Sports Medicine and private practice

Oncology and palliative care

Amputees and rehabilitation
