Is a 2:1 considered a bad grade?

I'm on track for a 2:1 and literally all uni content I see online is people going on about how a 2:1 shows you put no effort in, were only there to party, is the equivalent of getting D grades at school and is basically a participation trophy lmao. It would be one thing if I actually had just enjoyed my uni time and got a 2:1 but (aside from my year abroad) I spent 7-8 hours a day in the library and had no social life, and all I'll have to show for it is "the equivalent of a D grade".

I'm not sure which websites you've been reading exactly on this topic but, afaik, a 2.1 degree is what most Oxford students come out with. So hardly a 'D' grade! It'd be a great result if you get it and will receive due respect from employers

Since you're not aiming to have a career in law, I wouldn't worry about not being on track for a First :nah: (Though I don't know enough about legal careers to know whether a First would be necessary, even if you *were* going down those tracks :colondollar: )

I have no friends lol so I may as well study rather than just stay in bed all day, if I had friends I would spend way less time worrying about grades and ****, but I can't be dumb and a loser, got to at least have something going for me

I never said you were aiming to, or should/would need to, stock shelves your whole life! :nah: Like I said, I have a 2.2. I've never stocked a shelf in my life (not that either of us should be snobby about supermarket workers) :nah:

A 2.1 is a very good degree. I imagine the people writing on whichever websites you have no idea or imagination regarding what it takes to get a 2.1 from a uni like Oxford. Hardly a walk in the park, or a 'D' grade. I wouldn't worry about what clueless people think :nah:

If you don't believe me, or others who may post on here, do talk about your concerns to your college tutors and/or the Careers Service

I'm not being snobby about supermarket workers lol, I am one during the holidays and I don't want to spend the rest of my life getting spoken to like **** every day over out of stuck suncream. The careers advisor doesn't have much to say to people with no clue what they want to do other than "well have a think about some of your interests and come back to me"

A 2.1 is not a duff outcome. You only need a First if you are aiming at an academic career or hope to practise at one of the most glittering chambers at the London Bar.
