Would I be able to get into Oxford with a BTEC Extended Diploma and 2 A levels?

I'm in year 11, so I know University is a long way away, but I fell in love with a college that I looked at and I'm wondering if I could go there and still go to Oxford. The only problem is, it's a performing arts school, and they offer a BTEC extended diploma (equivalent to 3 A-Levels) alongside extra A Levels, and I am unsure if I could get into Oxford with this arrangement. I'm looking to do a degree in English Language and Literature at Oxford, and for college I want to do my BTEC in Acting, as well as an A-level in English Literature and Media Studies. Giving an honest opinion, if I got high enough grades would I stand a chance of getting in?

you might, but i think you'd be a far far more competitive candidate with 3 strong a levels. by strong i mean to say more like english lit than media (which is not as well-respected)

Did you check if oxford even accepts that BTEC + A-levels combo for English Lit?

Oxford’s policy on BTechs can be found here: https://www.ox.ac.uk/admissions/undergraduate/courses/admission-requirements/uk-qualifications

And what they say is

“Because of the academic nature of the undergraduate courses at Oxford, most Applied General qualifications (such as BTECs, Cambridge Technical Diplomas or UAL Diplomas) are unlikely to be suitable for making a competitive application by themselves, though they could be considered if taken alongside A-Levels, depending on the course applied for.”

Specific examples of courses that accept BTechs given on that page are more technical ones. It might be a good idea to contact the English department and check what their policy is for BTechs.

I would guess that 2 A levels and 1 BTech is likely to make you a less competitive candidate but you should check that with them rather than anyone on here.

I think something else to consider here is that a workload equivalent to 5 a levels would be absolutely insane. You’d have no free time to do supercurriculars which oxford is going to place a lot of focus on and you’d miss out on crucial downtime from your studies.

Can't you choose your third A-Level as Drama & Theatre Studies? Or perhaps A-Level History? Psychology? Sociology?

I do remember reading a story on results day that a girl got into Goldsmiths College, London for a LLB Law degree with a BTech and 2 A-Levels.
