Uni picks for psychology

I’ve narrow down why my uni choices, my predicted should be BBB, the places I want to go or Anglia Ruskin, Bath, Reading, Greenwich and Nottingham Trent. In these places I want to do psychology. Does anyone have any recommendation of other places that kind of fit this criteria instead of these ones. I’m looking for one that’s quite campus-based and near London-ish.

The usual advice is to have one aspirational choice a grade above your predicted grades, three choices at your predicted, and an insurance choice a grade or two below.

Do you mean Bath or Bath Spa? Bath requires A*AA which is too much of a stretch for an aspirational choice. Other options to consider: Kent, Leicester, Brighton, UEA.

Hey @mollyb7878 ,

It is great to hear that you are considering Reading! I would definitely recommend taking a look at our open days or even a virtual tour which can be found here! 🙂
This is a great way to get a feel for our university so its easier to compare when you look at others!

Do let us know if you have any more questions - our ambassadors are more than happy to help! We also have a Ask our Students feature so you can speak with a current Psychology student if you would like to! That can be found here!

Best of luck!
Millie 🙂

Bath is ludicrously competitive for Psych, its an A* course and your chances of an offer with BBB are essentially zero - pick somewhere else like Sussex, Oxford Brookes etc.

I have a feeling that the OP means Bath Spa.

In which case, check that all of your chosen courses are accredited by the BPS - BPS > Accredited Courses

Hey there @mollyb7878!

I'm Jacob, a second year Film and Media student at ARU Cambridge! It's wonderful to hear that you're considering joining us next year! Psychology is quite a popular course for the Cambridge campus! I've had a wonderful experience on campus, both living and studying there.

Cambridge as a city is full of life, plenty to explore, lots of history and many activities on and off campus to keep you occupied especially during first year!
Transport links are great as well, especially to London as you've mentioned, travelled there recently for a photography project. It's a 1 hour direct train that costs no more than £20 for a return ticket with a railcard, if you choose to live at The Railyard or CB1 student accommodation, you're right by the station too so you can't get much better than that!

My advice would be to book onto our next open day, which is Saturday January 10, 2026 to get a proper feel for the campus and Cambridge as a place.

If you have any further questions, we have a portal to speak to many current ARU staff and students from a wide range of courses which can be found here!

Best wishes, and I hope to see you next year!
Jacob
