gcse grades for ppe

is 99999D*8777 good enough for ppe at oxford? (or any course at oxbridge really)

just want honesty, but pls don’t try and tell me my grades are crap, just want to know how competitive they are or how uncompetitive they are for an oxbridge application, if possible with reference to oxford’s ppe

Those are clearly a very good set of grades. However no one can answer your question because

a) GCSE grades are viewed contextually, so getting those grades from a super selective school where half the cohort gets straight 9s is going to be viewed differently from taking them from an below average comprehensive where only half the cohort gets a pass in English and Maths.

b) it matters what subjects grades are in and how relevant they are to the chosen degree course. A 7 in Textiles if applying for PPE is different from a 7 in Maths.

ty, I probs should’ve specified

state school in which abt 65% of people in my year got 4+ in maths and English, 55% got a 5+ in both maths and English, idk exact stats but ik the pass rate went down lots for our year in school, more so than it dropped nationally

grades were 9 maths, 9 English language, 9 English literature, 9 history, 9 RS, D* catering, 8 French, 7 biology, 7 chemistry, 7 physics

So I’m guessing that you are one of the higher performers at your school? And the 7s are not in subjects which are key for PPE (or for any Social Science or Humanities courses) In which case definitely worth applying.

Do take into consideration that over 95% of applicants for PPE at Oxford have studied A-Level Maths.

Otherwise you have a good chance with your high performance in your GCSEs at your school.

Ultimately, your TSA admissions test and interview peformances will matter the most.

What TSA score is needed for an interview
It is just one factor but when I was researching my potential degree choices:

Economics and Management,
Experimental Psychology,
Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE)

Then you would require at least 65 and 70 would be a strong score and 75 and above would get you an interview for sure.

Also, don't forget for PPE you must do the essay too.

I have decided on a Law degree. So I will need to aim for 30 and above in the LNAT admissions test.
