foundation pharmacy

How difficult is it to get into Foundation Pharmacy, and what are the general results?
Can someone with the NCFE CACHE LEVEL 3 EXTENDED DIPLOMA in health and social care be admitted to Foundation Pharmacy?
Is it possible for someone who studied this qualification to get into a foundation or preparatory year of pharmacy at a university like Keele, Swansea, Lincoln, East Anglia, Bath, or Reading?

I suggest you check the entry requirements for each of these universities but they mostly accept BTECapplied science. I’m not sure about health and social care so just double check the entry requirements orring the universities

They all say they accept the qualification, but I still feel nervous about applying. Do you think it is hard to get into the foundation year for pharmacy?

Hi there, I hope you are doing well.

My name is Safa and I’m a pharmacy student at Reading University.
Regarding your question on how difficult it is to get into foundation year; it really depends on your application and interview process. I personally had a really pleasant experience with my interview at Reading uni, and I’m sure with the right preparation and attitude for your interview and a solid personal statement, (plus meeting entry requirements ofc), you would be on a good track to securing a place.

Now regarding your qualifications, I’m not sure if you’ve had a look at the following page:
https://www.reading.ac.uk/ready-to-study/study/how-to-apply/entry-requirements-ug
But it’s basically a list of all the other qualifications Reading University accepts. I looked through and couldn’t find one that matches your qualification, however, I would strongly encourage you to contact our admissions team (as also advised on the website) to discuss and ask about your qualifications.
You can find the contact information for Reading uni admissions and the other universities you listed below:
Reading: [email protected] +441183788372
Swansea: https://www.swansea.ac.uk/undergraduate/contact-admissions/
Lincoln: https://www.lincoln.ac.uk/course/sfysfyub/pharmacy/ (for this one I’m not sure if the requirements in the paragraph under the ‘Foundation Year Programs’ section apply to you so please have a look)
East Anglia: [email protected]
Bath: [email protected]

Hope this was helpful!
Please feel free to ask if you have any further questions. We’ll be happy to help 🙂

Kind regards,
Safa

Hi,

It really depends on whether you meet entry requirements for the foundation courses you’re applying to. Most universities will look at your qualifications, personal statement, and sometimes an interview if they have one as part of the process. Requirements can vary quite a bit between universities, so it’s best to check each website individually or contact admissions directly for clarification.

I’d recommend preparing for interviews by reviewing your interest in pharmacy, GPhC standards, ethical scenarios, and basic pharmaceutical calculations.

Hope this helps,

Tayba
