Hi, good luck this time!! I will be applying to Cardiac Science for the 2nd time! Could you please tell me if we need to change the supporting statement much from the previous year? Does the new application have to be totally different? And would it come under plagiarism if certain paragraphs from the previous application stay the same in the new application? It would be awesome if you could give some insight! Thank you 🙂

I added bits to the previous application and got a post without problems.

I would say that if it was unsuccessful last time, look at trying to improve it.

But no-one is comparing this application to previous.

Hey, can you give us any tips on what to expect with the interview and SJT Tests?

I wouldn't worry about interviews until applications are over.

SJTs- my experience is that most people overthink them. Look at the NHS values and then consider what you would want if you were on the other side of that scenario.

Remember that there is limited value on using the ones designed for medical school entry. So I wouldn't recommend paying for any of them as the systems are different.

Hi just wanted to share a key dates for 2026: https://nshcs.hee.nhs.uk/programmes/stp/applicants/key-deadline-dates-for-applications-to-the-stp-2026/

Also number of posts and locations : https://nshcs.hee.nhs.uk/programmes/stp/applicants/stp-2026-post-numbers-by-specialty-and-region/

Does anyone feel we don't have as much time to prepare this year? Might be making this up but feel like it's usually longer window.

Yes plus the number of posts are also reduced. Last year there was 15 posts for clincial microbiology and this is year its 5 I guess. Plus I was hoping to apply for clinical immuno in west midlands but there is no post available for west midlands.

I'm in the same boat I usually apply fot histopathology and there might not be a post I could get to, might as well apply and see what happens!
