Hey @Fluffy333mars , I hope you are doing well. Struggling with one subject while the others are going well is actually really common and Sociology can feel especially overwhelming because there's a lot of content, case studies and exam technique to juggle. But I feel as though the good news is that there are reliable resources and ways to make revision easier, even before you find a tutor.

Where to find a sociology tutor
Here are some places that I have personally used and so have other students:

Tutorful - lots of A level and GCSE sociology specialits

MyTutor - online tutoring with structured lessons

Superprof - wide range of tutors and usually cheaper

Your own school or college - ask teachers, they often know recommended tutors or older students who did well

Local Facebook groups/ university noticeboards - students studying sociology degrees sometimes tutor affordably

I would also say you do not need to commit to long-term sessions, many tutors offer one-offer lessons just to help you with exam technique or essay structure.

Revision resources that actually help with sociology

Tutor2u

Seneca Learning

Sociology AQA or OCR textbooks (depending on your exam board)

YouTube Channels

Study methods that work specifically for sociology

Use flashcards for studies, key concepts and theories

Write mini 5 minute essays

Learn using themes and not isolated topics

Use exam practice little and often (using past papers)

I would just say, finding a tutor can help but you can actually make huge progress using the resources I have listed.

I wish you all the best with your revision and I hope this was helpful. Let me know if you would want help with anything else 🙂

@bcustudentrep Which would you suggest to be the best for solo study and if I were to revise in themes is there anything that would revise it or make videos the same way?

Hi everyone,

I have noticed quite a few questions on here about AQA A-Level Sociology, especially around essay structure, AO3 evaluation, and how to access the higher mark bands.

I tutor AQA Sociology and have put together some free revision notes and exam guidance that might be useful if you are revising or feeling a bit stuck with essays.

Please see below if it is helpful:

Good luck with revision
