Questions about the MSc Advanced Control Systems Engineering at Sheffield University

Hello everyone,

I'm delighted to have received an offer for the MSc Advanced Control Systems Engineering programme at the University of Sheffield. I'm now in the process of making my final decision and would be incredibly grateful for some honest insights from current students or recent alumni to help me understand what the programme is truly like.

I've read the official materials thoroughly, but first-hand experiences would be invaluable.

Could anyone kindly share some information on the following points?

Coursework & Difficulty: How would you describe the overall workload and pace? Are there any modules that are particularly challenging?

Dissertation & Support: How does the dissertation project work (topic selection, supervisor allocation)? Is the support from academic staff and supervisors generally sufficient and accessible?

General Advice: What is one thing you wish you had known before starting this MSc? Any tips for succeeding in this programme?

Specifically, as someone holding an offer, I'm keen to know: Was the programme what you expected? Looking back, would you choose it again?

Thank you so much in advance for your time and help! Any advice, no matter how small, would be incredibly valuable to me.
