Mock the day after a Cambridge interview

Hello! I have received an interview invite for Cambridge (yay!!) however I have a mock the day after my interview. My interview finishes quite late and I live quite far from Cambridge (its an in-person interview) and so the earliest I can get home is 11pm (if i dont miss any of my 3 connections...) - i've talked with my teachers and they said i should still try to attend however im worried that i won't be able to attend due to missing one of my connections and arriving REALLY late e.g. 1am (i take 2 trains to get to college..) - what are your guys' thoughts - should i still go to my mock the next day somehow???

No, they should re-arrange it for you. It's only a mock.

wow thanks for that quick reply!! i've tried to but sadly i've been told that they can't rearrange the timings - that is the only time i can do the mock ☹️ we have another unofficial set in march tho?

So what do they do if people are ill? We often have to reschedule - what is it snows and school is closed - not a very helpful attitude.
Who did you speak to?

If you’re not there then you’re not there. It won’t cause you irreparable damage. Focus on your interview and forget the mock if they won’t accommodate you.

Think of it this way, which of these two events will you remember more vividly for the rest of your days?

Why does the mock result make any difference at this stage?
Your school / college clearly think you're capable enough that they're supporting you with a Cambridge application, from which you got an interview. I think that missing a singular mock exam isn't going to devastate you. Enjoy your time in Cambridge and have a breather.

As above, skip the mock. You could always come down with an unexplained illness on the day after a tiring interview...

Ask your teachers to send you the mock to do in your own time, maybe later that next day. This mock does not count towards anything, your interview is more important at this point. Try not to stress…..schools should be flexible at this time. Put yourself first.

At the end of the day, the mocks actually don’t matter anymore since you already have your predicted grades as long as you keep revising and don’t let your grades drop. So literally just don’t think about anything but you interview for that period of time and just focus on doing well on the interview rather than stressing about getting back in time to do a mock that counts for basically nothing. You can simply do the questions later in your own time even if your teachers don’t mark it.

OP, from the helpful replies above I hope that you can see that this is a useful lesson in distinguishing between the important and the not important. Focus on the interviews at Cambridge. Journey there to arrive in good time, and, as melancollege suggests, enjoy being in Cambridge.

Maybe take some moments to wander around the Fitzwilliam Museum or go to look at King's chapel and/or Trinity Great Court. Walk along the Backs. Have a drink in a studenty pub. Eat a dogdy kebab from a dodgy kebab van (do this after the interviews, not before).

I shall use blunter language than others have. **** the mock exam.

I agree with everyone else.If you can afford it I would tell you to stay over and make the most of it.
When my son was going to in person interviews in Oxford he had to get there the night before. He told his head of sixth form he would have to leave at lunchtime and she firmly told him not to be ridiculous and to have a lie in so he was well rested for the interviews.
