Epq problem

hi everyone, i'm currently doing an EPQ and have around 5000 GOOD words for actual content then my teacher recommends 1.5k for the intro and an additional 200 for the conclusion. I am doing edexcel and does anyone know if you get penalised for going over?

HEY DIV(a)!
I searched for a bit and what I inferred was :
Edexcel doesn’t penalise you for going over the word count in your EPQ, the 5,000 words is just a guideline, not a strict limit.
Examiners care more about clear, focused writing and good structure than the exact length so extra words are fine if they add useful analysis, but repetition or padding can hurt your marks.
Quality matters more than quantity, so keep your introduction purposeful and your conclusion concise! :dancing2:

BUT DON'T take my word too seriously, it may be SAFER to just ask the sixth form staff (dealing with EPQS OFC!) whether it's okay!

from what my teachers told me you wont get penalised by going over the limit if its not by a ridiculous amount like ending up with 10k words as it shows you haven't focused and planned well
