Who to ask to change a levels

I asked my form tutor if I can change bio but he said it’s too late and I can’t . It’s early December and I feel like I could catch up with geography but idk who else to ask I reaaaallly want to change and I feel helpless. Idk why I feel embarrassed to because I know that they will say no.

So who else do I ask?

Hi @menacing-orderin

I'm sorry your not feeling great about this! Sadly, if your tutors have already said no there is not much you can do this year. You could try explaining your situation to your head of year, which I highly recommend. Remember, being told no is not embarrassing, it's completely normal.

An alternative route is starting year 12 again in September 2026. If you decide this, you could spend the next few months getting work experience and gaining skills that would be great for your future career.

I hope this helps, please feel free to ask me any questions,

When I changed I asked the head of the subjects and they communicated between one another. I was being told it was too late for when I was asking in the start of November in year 12, so I’m not surprised they’re refusing. You need a real reason. Media Studies gave me severe anxiety because of the content we were being shown and that’s why I changed. Disliking the subject won’t be a good enough reason when you’re already months in

Some people who feel like this would consider changing course at the start of the next school year and then staying on for an extra year to finish it. I know someone who did this and the extra year didn’t bother her as she was thinking of taking a gap year anyway. I think you have to consider whether you want it that badly. As I mentioned, you can ask the head of the department about Geography and they have the final say. Tell them you decided that Geography is what you hope to pursue and you weren’t set on what you wanted to do before, but just be aware that this might not be enough

I really don’t want to restart the year and I would have to do it at a different sixth form
