Teacher training & student finance

I am finishing a BSc in Computer Science this June. I have had 4 years of funding (Foundation + 3 years).

I am applying for a PGCE (Secondary Computer Science) for September 2026.

Can anyone confirm that the PGCE is an Exempt Course for the 'Previous Study' rule, and that I will still be eligible for the Tuition Fee Loan and Maintenance Loan? In turn deeming my eligible for the teacher training bursary/scholarship in that leads to qualified teacher status (QTS).

Hi there,

PGCE ITT course's that are two years or less in length are exception courses, as long as you do not hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

Thanks,
Claire
