How does previous study affect eligibility for future Student Finance

Hi
I've recently left a nursing degree in the first term of my second year and I have accepted a place for September to study psychology full time for three years.
I have received a full year + one term of student finance and maintenance loan. I have paid back the overpayment that I received when I left the course early in the first term of the second year.
As I cant apply for student finance until April 2026 please can anyone tell me how my previous studies may impact my student finance application?

Finance for a new course is calculated as: length of new course + 1 - years of previous study.

So your calculation would be : 3 + 1 - 2 = 2 years of funding.

You would be entitled to the maintenance loan for all three years but you won't receive a tuition fee loan for your first year of the new course.

Do you have compelling personal reasons why you left the course (health issues, bereavement, etc.)? If you have evidence to submit a claim (from a doctor, course tutor, etc.), you might be given the additional year of funding.
