University of Brighton named UKs most LGBTQ+ friendly university

Hi everyone! Thought I would share some great news from the university!

Brighton has been crowned the UK’s most LGBTQ+ friendly university in a new survey of 2,000 students, scoring an impressive 8.7 out of 10 for inclusivity the highest in the country. (source) As well as this, last year, for example, the University was ranked 14th in Stonewall’s Top 100 Employers List and awarded the prestigious Stonewall Gold Award, recognising our sector-leading work in creating an inclusive environment for LGBTQ+ staff and students.

The uni has a ton of supports available to LGBT students, from our amazing LGBT Society, to #Never Ok, our disclosure policy.

We also have some specific support for Trans and Nonbinary students, for example.

a process for changing your name and photo on your unicard and other university records free of charge.

support staff who can support you in communicating your name and pronoun to your lecturers or on placement guidance on

time off for medical treatment

guidance on use of toilet and changing room facilities

guidance on graduation and degree certificates.
