Medical breaks

What do Oxbridge think about people taking medical breaks from their studies. Ik think of retaking year 12 starting 2026 because of my mental health. I understand people will say why would you want to apply to Oxbridge with poor mental health, but if I can finally get some help then I will be fine. I just don’t know their views on this, it’s not like I’m failing the subject it’s just that I’m pausing my education for a moment.

Write a couple of lines about your health issues in your PS, and ask your teacher to do the same in the teacher's reference. This will help the admission tutors understand your educational journey thus far. You might be surprised to learn that this is v common amongst Oxbridge applicants.

Ah really? So is it common for those who attend Oxbridge to have maybe resat year 12 for a particular reason? That makes me feel much better. I thought Oxbridge would be quite strict about these things😭 only thing that’s stopping me from taking a year out is being a year behind everyone and all the supercurriculars programmes I’ve applied to im probably not gonna be able to do them.
