which unis should i apply to!!

So my UCAS grades are A, B, B and I want to study Neuroscience and Psychology at uni and I'm not sure which unis I want to go to and I'm also applying one for Pharmacology which I wanted to be UCL but that's AAB and I'm already planning to do Manchester which is AAB so I'm not going to risk an offer. So what other uni should I apply to? I'm not going to Leicester...

Hey,
If you are applying to london unis, make sure you meet the requirements.
Consider talking to your teachers to move up the grades since you are just 1 grade off for UCL and Manchester.
I'd also recommend one safety uni that you know you would 100% get into just in case
I would recommend to research suitable unis on UCAS
Good luck

Have you checked that UCL will accept a different PS for Pharmacology - they usually won't.

Hi @user4nna_

Although there is no specific Neuroscience and Psychology course here at Kington there is both Psychology and Pharmacology courses.

Pharmacology BSc (Hons) | Kingston University London
Psychology BSc (Hons) | Kingston University London

You have the grades for both of these courses!

I would really recommend going to open days to help you make a decision. They are a great chance to get a feel for the university as to what it might be like to live and study there, see the facilities and speak to current students and lectures.

Here are a few posts of mine that you may find useful

Hey there, If you’re thinking about Psychology in particular, LSBU’s Psychology course could be a really good fit because it gives you a broad grounding in how the mind and brain work, while still letting you shape your studies through different pathways as you go. A lot of students who like neuroscience but aren’t sure about a pure science degree end up really enjoying this route.

At LSBU, you start with core areas like cognitive psychology, biological psychology, mental health, social behaviour and research methods. As you move through the course, you can tailor your learning towards the areas you enjoy most. If you’re into the brain and biological aspects, there are modules that look at neural processes, cognitive functioning, behaviour and mental health conditions. If you prefer the applied side, you can explore pathways connected to clinical psychology and forensic psychology.

The nice thing about the course is that it keeps your options open. You can progress into roles in mental health services, support work, wellbeing, research assistant roles, education settings, or you can carry on to postgraduate study if you want to specialise more in neuroscience, clinical psychology or other fields. The practical side of the course is a big plus because you learn how psychology works in real life, not just in theory.

If you’re feeling unsure about your university choices, having LSBU as an option gives you a strong and flexible route without closing doors, especially if you’re interested in the brain, behaviour and future psychology related careers.

You’re always welcome to explore LSBU further. We have a virtual open day on 9th December from 12:30 to 1:30 pm or you can book a campus tour https://www.lsbu.ac.uk/study/study-at-lsbu/open-days/campus-tours to get a proper feel for our spaces. You can also chat with our current students on Unibuddy https://www.lsbu.ac.uk/student-life/chat to get an insight into the courses you’re curious about.

Hi there,

I've done some quick research and here are some Psychology and Neuroscience options that are ABB and below 😊

Aberdeen - BBC
Sussex - ABB
Manchester Met - ABB
Middlesex - BBB/BBC
Keele - ABB

They are some good options to start with, but you'd need to check you meet the subject and GCSE requirements for each of them!

I'd recommend using the 'Chat to a student' feature for each one, and you can ask them about their personal experiences of the university, and there might be some ambassadors doing the same/similar subject that you're applying for, who might be able to give you an insight to the course!

You can find this by searching on the uni website 'chat to student' and it will take you through to unibuddy where you can pick an ambassador to message - not all universities have this function, but I think most do!

Good luck 😄
