I don't blame your parents to be honest.
I suppose you could ask them for one and demonstrate how responsible you would be.

You haven't said why you don't have a phone, though we'd naturally assume that it's because your parents don't want you to have one. You can have a phone to communicate with others without it being a smartphone though. There's a growing market in dumb phones or those that aren't connected to the internet. Is there any reason why you wouldn't be able to have one of those? My wife and I are not going to allow our daughter to have a smart phone when she goes to secondary school, but she will be allowed a non smart phone that she can choose.

hi, i can totally see why it may seem quite daunting for you, especially in t2025 where everything is online. i just wanted to say, i have a phone but no social media, yet im still very popular at school and i constantly go to parties and events. just make sure you stay in touch with people in person, and maybe ask your parents for like an iPad or a family device which you can use to connect. if not, its still possible for you to make friends! just be yourself and dont worry too much about being online, your personality will shine through adn carry for you!

Hey dw I completely get that. I'm 15 and I don't have a smartphone either. I have a nokia brick phone and I only have a school computer as well. Ppl always ask me if I want a smart phone and I always say yes and no. Yes, they do have their advantages, but I don't really need one. maybe ask your parents if you can have a brick phone and you can probably move to a locked smartphone if you can prove you're trustworthy? Brick phones aren't expensive, they have a rly long battery life and you can still msg and call ppl on it. My dms are open if u wanna chat abt it πŸ’š

I'm a 17 year old in your boat. That said, I have a very close family so it doesn't bother me. You can make friends with people physically (a whole other can of worms). I mostly just email people. It works for fairly well for me and I am even in the first tentative stages of a relationship. If people can't accommodate that, then they aren't the right kind of people.

100%. if the people around you will judge you for not having a phone, or cant understand you/accomodate for you, theres no point trying to be friends with them. you'll find someone who is willing to bend around to try to talk to you!
