Hi!

Some info on Reading Uni (UoR) Finance is below:

If you want a career in corporate finance, financial services or financial markets, Henley Business School (HBS) (on campus) is a brilliant choice. We’re top 30 in the UK for Accounting & Finance and top 15 for graduate prospects, and our finance degrees are CFA Institute–affiliated.

You’ll also get hands-on experience in our ICMA Centre dealing room, a large non-investment bank dealing room, and have flexible options including specialist pathways, a placement year, or a year abroad in your 3rd year meaning you will come back to uni in your extra year (4th) to complete your degree and graduate - you get all the information for this during your time and get support from our careers services.

These professional trading environments let you: Practise trading strategies, Build and manage your own asset portfolio, Analyse real-world financial data, Experience the pace and pressure of market environments. This hands-on experience really sets Reading apart I would say.

Your learning will be a blend of lectures, seminars, practical workshops, and independent study and assessed in groups and in individual coursework and exams, the real world experience to be ready for the word of work, is something HBS is really pleased to offer.

After the first year of your BSc Finance degree, you will have the option to transfer to any of our specialist pathways:

Hi there,

Congratulations on receiving your offers, that’s a fantastic achievement! 🎉

When deciding between universities, it can help to think about what matters most to you such as, the course content and structure. Our Financial and Business Economics degree combines core economic theory with practical business applications, giving you a strong foundation in areas like financial markets, corporate strategy, and data analysis. You’ll also develop valuable quantitative and analytical skills that are highly sought after by employers in finance, consulting, and business management. Find our more here: https://www.royalholloway.ac.uk/studying-here/undergraduate/economics/financial-and-business-economics/.

You might also want to look into the teaching style, placement opportunities, and the kind of support available for students. For example, we offer options for work placements and industry projects, helping you gain real-world experience alongside your studies. It’s also worth thinking about the campus environment and location. Our campus offers a close-knit community feel with easy access to London, which can be great for networking, internships, and career opportunities.

Try reaching out to our current students or come along to an offer holder event or webinar to get a real sense of what it's like to study with us. You can browse some of our upcoming events here: https://www.royalholloway.ac.uk/student-life/visit-royal-holloway/undergraduate-events/.
