core maths for medicine

i wanna study medicine at uni but my college forced me to do core maths bc i got a 6 in gcse maths. i study biology, chemistry and english language and core maths as an as level but i genuinely don’t enjoy it and feel as if it’s a waste of time and taking time off revising the subjects i need and i rly want to drop it, should i??

You don't need Core Maths for any Medicine degree, and a GCSE grade 6 will be high enough for plenty of courses. Talk to your school about dropping Core Maths - for Med its only your 3 main A level grades that count.

Hi @runnymuk123. If you want to go to medical school then this does not necessarily require core maths and wont be much of an attribute to your application. I would say the main priority for you should be getting high marks in both chemistry and biology. If you can not manage studying maths and its taking up a lot of time from you focusing on the main subjects then you could potentially speak to your tutors about dropping the subject.
