Warwick Mathematics TMUA cut off 2026

Predicted 3A*s plus an A and have 7 x 9's at GCSE, however, I have just got a TMUA result of 4.5.

5.0 seems to be the approximate threshold last year so I am facing a decision of either switching my application choice now before rejection or take a risk to see whether Warwick may still consider. This is from the uni:

"In the last admissions cycle (2025 entry), the majority of offers were made to applicants with a TMUA score of 5.0 and above. Some offers were made to applicants with a score below 5.0 after a holistic assessment of their overall profile."

Anybody received offers below 5.0 yet or have done in the past? Or conversely, have people been rejected at a score below 5.0 already?

If it's the latter, I may consider switching courses before the rejection arrives so I really have a decision to make.

Oh, I wanted to add that I am a home non-contextual student too.

The objective of admissions tests is to weed out applicants who are most unlikely to succeed on the course of study in question. Why apply to a course where you are likely to struggle?

In all honesty, my TMUA score was unexpectedly low. I had been doing well on past papers (getting 6.0-6.5) so I felt that an application to Warwick was merited.

Perhaps but many TMUA test takers were disappointed with their results vs performance on past papers.

Thanks for your input but my question to the rest of the readers still holds. Is anybody aware of any offers or rejections below the 5.0 mark already? It may possibly be too early as there is another TMUA sitting but I wanted to ask.

Hello,
Last year offers were made to students with TMUA scores below 5 and for Maths and Physics as low as 3.5.

That's encouraging. Has anybody had experience of speaking with their admissions to gauge their chances of an offer below 5.0?

Honestly, a 4.5 TMUA score is a bit borderline for Warwick Maths, but it’s not an automatic rejection. The wording clearly says “majority above 5.0”, which suggests there isn’t a hard cut off.

Your overall profile is very strong, with high predictions and good GCSEs, which is exactly what a holistic assessment looks at. The gap between 4.5 and 5.0 isn’t huge, and it puts you more in a grey area than a clear no.

Personally, if Warwick Maths is your top choice, I wouldn’t rush to switch immediately. There is some risk, but it’s not a hopeless situation either.

If you need a safer option, switching is understandable, but based on what’s written, 4.5 is still within the range where consideration can happen.

Is switching possible at this stage in January ? Would it be possible to switch after a rejection ? Thanks

Appreciate this. I switched in the end as I didn't want take the risk and Warwick is likely to now be my first choice. I would have taken Imperial but the 4.5 TMUA score makes that highly unlikely.

I think it's too late to switch now (do check though) and I also don't think it's possible after rejection (hence the reason for starting this thread). What TMUA score did you get?

WOW, that’s early. Your application must have really impressed them. Still waiting here.
