University choice

I have received unconditional offers from Swansea, Brighton, Lancashire, and UWE Bristol for aerospace engineering. Which one should I choose? Right now my choice is Swansea

Hi @Sekiro12,

Thank you for your message and patience. It's great to hear that you are interested in studying Aerospace Engineering with us. We came 2nd in the Northwest for Student Experience in a recent survey by the Times Good University Guide (Aeronautical & Manufacturing Engineering Courses) 2026

You will have the opportunity to take a one-year industrial placement during your studies to increase your employability. Most placements are UK-based, but opportunities exist for global placements. We have links with leading aerospace companies and you'll benefit from guest lectures, field trips and placement opportunities. Our Aerospace Society organises regular lectures and events. You would also benefit from the latest high-quality equipment and facilities available in our new £35m Engineering Innovation Centre, with access to flight simulators, an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) laboratory, and more.

You can find more about our course, explore the facilities and hear from past students here. I would recommend also following and getting an insight into our engineering school via their Instagram @UniLancashire_Engineering. They are there for you to also ask any course specific questions 🙂

Feel free to ask any questions,
^Zac

Pick the one you like the most, but think it through very well - location, accommodation, modules, years in industry, etc etc etc. You've got until May to decide, and it's a very important decision, so it's not one that you should rush to make now!

Hey @Sekiro12

Congratulations on your unconditional offers! That’s a fantastic achievement, and it’s great to hear that UWE is one of the universities you’re considering.

Choosing the right place can come down to a range of factors things like course content, how modules are assessed, career pathways, placement opportunities, the feel of the city, accommodation options and even general cost of living.

UWE’s Aerospace Engineering course is accredited by the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS) on behalf of the Engineering Council and was developed in collaboration with regional aerospace partners. Looking into each university’s placement/graduate career prospects is useful when choosing a uni, for example students here in UWE Bristol benefit from being in one of the UK’s largest aerospace hubs, and past placement students have worked with companies such as Airbus and Rolls-Royce (both based in the Bristol area), as well as a variety of smaller specialist engineering firms across the UK.

Something that really helped me when deciding was writing a pros and cons list for each university. Having everything down on paper made it much easier to compare each option clearly.

If you haven’t already, I’d definitely recommend visiting the campuses and cities you’re considering. Since it will be your home for the next few years, it’s important that you feel comfortable and excited about the environment too.

You might also want to look into wider university life, for example societies, sports clubs, opportunities outside your course, field trips, and the general student community. All of these can make a big difference to your overall experience.

Good luck with everything and please feel free to ask any questions.

From Cara (2nd year Marketing student)
