DLL foundation year English lit (assessment + itw Qs)

Hello,

Looking to apply as a mature student for English literature with a foundation year. I'm mostly wondering about what the assessment entails (aka literacy and numeracy test). As someone wanting to do English Lit, will I be ask to take the maths test?

For anyone who's done the interviews, what sort of questions can I expect?

Any experience from people doing/having done their foundation year through DLL would be valuable to me.

Thanks in advance

I'm currently a foundation year student and you are generally asked to take both maths and English online assessment. It is GCSE maths level so I would just brush up on maths.

As for the interview it is split into an academic interview where they will ask questions such as why do you want to do the course? What are your plans for after graduation? Why do you want to study specifically at Sheffield? They also talk about how the coursework load is a lot and how you will balance it, what experiences do you have to support that? They will also ask about a book you are currently reading. (This could change just based off of my experience)

The other interview is a wellbeing interview that does not affect your chances of getting in or not. It is where you can talk about finances, mental health, physical health and circumstances.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have other questions

Thanks for your reply! Very helpful.

Do you know how much of an impact those online assessments have on their final decision?

I have been invited to an interview and to take the tests so fingers crossed it all works out.

How are you finding your current foundation year schedule? I'm planning on commuting to Sheffield should I be offered a place so I'm curious to hear what the foundation year schedule is like.
