MSE at Imperial, what are my chances as an International IB Student?

I'm currently taking IB as an international student, and I want to go to Imperial. My IB HL subjects are Math Physics and Chemistry, with 7 7 6 accordingly. Overall, my score is 42/45. I did some Materials Science reading outside of school, how are my chances of getting in?

I think these HL (776) translates to A*A*A for A levels, but not sure.

Bro if your personal statement is good, they'll give you an interview. It's getting to the interview stage that's harder apparently. Idk why it's taking longer now but I had my interview on the 19th and got my offer the 25th but I'm a home student for context. It's probs because of exams and when i was interviewed 770 people had already applied which is crazy. Apparently they give out around 400 interviews I can't remember exact figures and like 250 offers so yeah I'd be patient. Good Luck bro

You don't need to "translate" your IB scores to A-level - UK unis are very familiar with the IB (which is also available in the UK) and make offers to IB students on the basis of IB, and in fact most UK unis state their offers in terms of A-level and IB grades.

In any event on academic bases you exceed the standard offer and in fact the "typical" offer for IB students (standard: 38 + 66 in maths and physics or chemistry at HL plus another "useful" HL subject; typical: 39 points). You're taking the most useful combination of HL subjects for it as well. So you have as good a chance as anyone else from that frame.

Do make sure you do wider reading, and any other relevant activities available to you that might present themselves, and write about them thoughtfully and analytically in your PS (avoid just listing things, and remember UK unis are a lot less interested in "generic" extracurriculars like sporting or musical achievements for unrelated courses; they really want to see what you've read and/or done specifically in relation to materials science in your case).

Thank you I'm sure you'll get yours soon too. Tbh I didn't really do anything special I just mentioned books and articles i read and what I learned as well as a research project I did. For the interview I think my experience will probs be different to yours because I got invited to n applicant day where I had a 1on1 interview with one of the academics and she branched of my ps into other areas of materials as well as a group task but I think you'll get an online video assessment and then an actual interview. Just reread your ps tbh and brush up on basic knowledge. And its fine lol I wish someone told me what would happen😭
