Royal Holloway Law Graduate Prospects

Would RHUL be okay to go to for law if I'm trying to get into big law in my future? While they're 30th overall, they're 65th for law. I am aware that a lot of firms in both the US and UK have adopted uni blind hiring schemes, so if I work hard to get a First and manage to get into summer schemes and extracurricular work, would it be okay? Or should i consider a higher ranked uni?

Hi @perceptual-depar

Royal Holloway (RHUL) can absolutely be a good option if you’re aiming for a career in big law, provided you make the most of your time there. While rankings can play a role, they’re not the only factor firms consider. you're correct in thinking many leading firms in the UK and US have adopted university-blind recruitment processes, which means your performance and experience matter far more than the name of your university.

If you achieve a First, secure vacation schemes, and build a strong CV through extracurricular activities, build your commercial awareness and relevant work experience, you’ll put yourself in a competitive position.

Plenty of successful lawyers come from a wide range of universities.

Ultimately the key is performance, experience, and persistence. If RHUL feels like the right fit for you academically and personally, and you’re committed to putting in the work outside of your academics too, then it can absolutely work.

I hope that helps,
