The Student Room Group

Y13 GYG but I'm thoroughly cooked 🔥

So I js found out abt this rn so I'm kinda late 😭 but its okay chat we locking in 🗣🔥

Hi I'm K and I'm a home-school student in Year 13. I'm doing Maths, Physics & Psychology A Levels.

For my GCSEs I got 777776 (6 in CS) and yes I did self study for that too so not the best grades.

I'm actually quite behind and I've got 3 physics papers in January and 3 more in May/June along with all the other exams.
I've just started A Level Psychology this year which in hindsight, might be a horrible idea. Understatement. But I was doing chemistry and since I was self studying, it was extremely hard considering I was also doing Maths and Physics. Not that Psychology isn't hard but it's more of a memorising subject.
Pray for me guys 😃
Also please drop advice etc I REALLY need it and I would rlly rlly appreciate it 🫡
As for my hobbies I love reading. Haven't read in a while tho. And I enjoy sports like boxing etc. Which I also haven't done in a while. 😭

I'll try to update a lot this month hopefully if I don't forget abt it.

hey hope you are doing fine! so about your subjects, I have seen some other friends of mine do these 3 subjects as well. What I heard from them was, Physics they find hard because it's more of applying that memorising while some believe Psychology is hard.(everyone have different brains lol) so anyways I would like to recommend you the strategy to study called Active Recall where you study something and study it again and again keeping time intervals like days and weeks. And as for Maths and Physics, try to understand the concept rather than trying to memorise the theory- memorising will be less useful when answering questions. So for that try to do as many past papers as you can until your exam. Also don't burnout from this!!!
Hope this helps. good luck!!!

I can only give advice for maths and physics as I am studying these as well but the advice I can give for you is that for pure maths you need to try and find the hardest questions you can for each topic by looking up A*/A questions, also look at resources on PMT as you can check each topic for the questions you need to practice. grind out as many past papers as possible from different exam boards in timed conditions. a lot of the physics questions are 6 marker explanations that you just need to write the same thing each time to pick up 6 marks (e.g photoelectric effect). for maths it changes based on which exam board but for mechanics/stats (I do Edexcel) its always the same 7 types of questions they ask you so after going through a couple of past papers you should be able to pick up the rhythm easily
