Liverpool institute for performing arts university

I’m planning to apply to LIPA this year for Filmmaking and Creative Technologies, which is my top choice, and I’d really appreciate any advice from people who know the uni or the course. I applied last year but didn’t have much film or media experience, so I’ve been building that up. I have three A-levels (Business C, Media Studies B, Fine Art A), and I’m currently doing a media access course that includes creative writing, architecture photography, still-life and advertising photography, drone photography, podcasting and more, with the potential to achieve up to 120 UCAS points. I mainly want to hear what the course is actually like, whether people rate it, what the teaching and facilities are like, and how students generally find the experience. I’d also love any advice on accommodation in Liverpool, good areas for students, places to avoid, and how easy it is to find something. Thanks in advance!

In terms of accommodation, you’ll find most first years at LIPA living at cathedral campus, it’s just across the road and relatively affordable and basically made up of a lot of 3-5 bedroom houses. I’m staying at the Arch, which is just a couple minutes walk away and i’d defo recommend. It’s really good value for what you pay, the rooms are huge and the staff are lovely so I’m really loving living here, there is a lot of first year LIPA students here too (i’d say it’s about a 50/50 split of LIPA and LJMU students. I also know of quite a few students who live at Horizon and Grand Central, those accommodations are both a little further away being by the train station about a 15 minute walk away. Other options are Agnes Jones House, St Luke’s View and Grenville Street. I’d definitely say The Arch or Cathedral Campus are the best accommodations to stay at if you’re going to LIPA, primarily due to location, price and quality.

Hey sorry for the late reply but I am also applying to LIPA this year for film and have my interview on Friday. I am browsing the internet to see if I can find any tips for the interview!
